It’s hard to really describe the vibe of the last Family Showcase if you weren’t there. It was a really unique, organic and inspiring experience. I feel blessed to be a part of a movement that is happening right now in New York.  DJ Schoolboy has done us a service by providing an outlet for everyone to see, experience and be a part of what is happening. The opportunity to see so many diverse acts that are truly on the cusp of blowing the roof off of an ever-changing, enigmatic industry is rare. It’s about building with one another in a powerful, positive, raw and exciting way. Come join us and see for yourself tonight at Fat Baby.

Honestly, this line-up is astounding and ripe with talent. Come out support and love hard because life is way too fucking short.

Nosaj Thing lighting test

September 9th, 2009

at this point I think most of you know I love the weird shit.  my heart will always be with music made by Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Lorn, Mike Slot and more…. personally i don’t find it weird… I think of it as more evolved… but regardless… I love it and love to support it.

on that tip I share with you the latest lighting test by Nosaj Thing. Known in LA for his electronic soundscapes, his wild beats play seem to play into mind, body and soul with a special complexity. Nosaj Thing is a perfect example of the sound mastery of beat driven, experimental electronics from a gifted noise constructor.

In this video he tests out his crazy beats with a crazy light show…giving a taste of whats to come on the upcoming tour dates throughout the fall….

I CAN’T WAIT.

WAD KLUB IN NYC

September 7th, 2009

After some recent traveling to Rome, I have the travel bug big time. Since French is the one language I know the best, I’ve been harassing all my French friends and acquaintances to help me practice with the eventual intention of traveling to Paris and checking out the incredible music and party scene there (shouts to French Lopez Records working with Maggie Horn!!)

I guess it rubbed off because I’ve had one of the best French Mags with the best international parties fall into my lap right here in NYC!!  Guess the universe heard my request….let’s show NYC how the French do it.

WAD KLUB hits NYC this THURSDAY @ Santos Party House!!! RSVP for reduced admission. SEE YOU THERE

Zombie Friday: Zomby

Zomby is fuckin’ amazing. Anyone who went to Brainfeeder at Love a while back can testify.  Dubstep is a bizarre world to innovate within, but for a select few (like Zomby), its the most fertile ground under the sun (moon? inflamed death star on the verge of Supernova?).  This track has been played 600 times on my itunes in the last 3 days. Listen.

Recaptured Volume 1 - L5D

New post up at namedropacid.com.  For the first installment of the “Recapture” series, I dig up and digitize an old tape of my friend Colin (L5D) making music that sounds like Madlib and Boards of Canada going though shoeboxes of old tapes in a screened-in-porch on a Sunday.

Check out one of the tracks here, and hit the blog for the rest.
